Some people think individuals are more and more dependent on each other. Some people think individuals are more and more independent. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

There are many who claim that the dependency of individuals is on the rise, while others argue that we actually become more independent. From my perspective, I consider both of the statements are reasonable and the reason will be explained in the following essay.

On one hand, with the popularization of the Internet and electronic devices, the general public is able to get access the massive information online, thereby increasing the independency of obtaining practical knowledge and professional suggestions. To explain, nowadays, people have accepted to request answers for their questions and problems by simply typing in the key words on the research engine before selecting the most suitable one from millions of websites. For example, when children are curious about a natural phenomenon, or teenagers are puzzled with a geometry question, as well as graduates seek for valuable tips in job-hunting, nearly every demand, no matter common sense or specialized advices, can be fully satisfied by the Internet. In that way, modern people are facing less necessity to rely on the assistance or guidance of others, thereby enhancing their dependency in both daily life and professional fields.

Many employees can now do their work from home using modern technology. However, this change may only benefit workers, not the employers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Facing to the severity of competition, the ever-increased attention has been paid to the efficiency and productivity in workplace, especially when the appliance of advanced technology allows working remotely. Some people argue that this trend does favor for employees rather than the employers. As for me, I consider both parties share the convenience equally in this case.

To begin with, the employees indeed enjoy more leisure time with flexible working shifts which leads to the higher efficiency. To explain, the commuting time can be saved greatly by working from home and avoiding the peaking hours of traffic, which means the individuals are able to get up later and accompany with their family members for a longer time. Meanwhile, when staying at the environment where one is familiar and feels comfortable, they are likely to focus on the tasks they are dealing with by eliminating the distraction of noisy office and loud colleagues. As a result, the employees do benefit from distance-working and tend to continue this policy by reacting actively.

However, working from home can save a large percentage of resources for the business owners, which should be also taken into consideration. For one thing, the employers can save the cost by renting a smaller property with only essential facilities to satisfy the basic demand; they may also face to much lower figure on the bill for overheads, depreciation and the subsidies provide to staff for their lunch and commuting fees. More importantly, the time can be saved by eliminating the endless meetings in which the team members can hardly achieve consensus. By allowing staff to hand in their outcome individually, the management can make wise decision by selecting the best option and skip the process of discussion. In that way, business owners yield higher from less investment under the new tendency.

To sum up, distant-working not only enables the flexibility for employees, but also ensures the business investment can be highly rewarding for the owners.
