对于大部分同学来说,托福独立口语都是pain in the neck,所以备考的大部分精力都放在了这一个部分。其实作为占比达到四分之三的托福综合口语,也很值得大家的关注。答得好的话,可以拉瘸腿的独立一把。经过科学练习,托福综合口语是可以轻易拿到高分的。那为什么大家没有呢?
托福综合口语之所以被忽视,原因有以下几个:
1. 听力难度不高,一般同学都能够听懂;
2. 不会(像独立一样)出现无话可说的情况;
3. 同学没有深刻体会到练习的重要性。
事实上,听懂不=能够说明白,无话可说不=说的都是有效信息,而缺乏练习那更是口语大忌。我们来看看综合口语的评分标准中那些潜规则:
A. delivery(要流畅):磕磕巴巴地说完,也拿不到高分。所以在考前必须通过大量练习让口腔肌肉活跃起来。
B. topic development(信息要齐全):只有大概意思是远远不够的,必须有丰富的细节。
关于A,笔者就不展开了。今天重点是要传授给大家应对B的秘诀:有效的笔记方法。
因为我们要做的是照搬式的复述,不是大意概括。所以有效的笔记方法就至关重要了。因为除非我们天赋异禀能过耳不忘,否则一定会有遗漏/记忆的些许偏差。
笔记该怎么记?且听我慢慢道来。
笔记的格式是竖着,不是横着也不是乱着。这样更能够体现出逻辑关系,进行信息分层。有助于后面的输出。对于逻辑关系,除了格式分层之外,也可以在笔记中加一些简短的衔接词,比如but, also等。例子:
这位同学记的信息是挺齐全的,但是信息之间的逻辑关系不够清晰。稍微调整一下会更佳:
eat worm
but atta like
e.g. penc-move
captu, swall
对照着笔记复述出来就是:
“xx eat worms, but they will attack anything that looks like worms. for example, if we move a pencil horizontally in front of a xx, it will capture the pencil and starts swallowing.”
技巧2:笔记大内容
笔记的大内容是新内容。何为新内容?就是阅读当中没有的,听力当中非重复出现的信息。
技巧3:笔记小内容
笔记小内容是实义词。何为实义词?主要是名词,动词,形容词。但是也要根据情况来灵活变化。这样做出来的笔记非常高效。看着这些词就能够回忆起原文的所有信息。例子:
以下是一段听力的文本。
“The first student, a law student, is a satisfier, meaning that he makes a decision or takes action once criteria are met. That doesn’t mean he’ll settle for mediocrity, his criteria is in fact very high, but as soon as he finds the job that meets his basic criteria he’ll be satisfied. So, in this example, as soon as the law student finds a high paying job he is happy because salary is the most important criteria.”
一个高效的笔记只挑选其中的一小部分词即可:

技巧4:用简写和缩写
用缩写和简写,可以省时间,留下更多的有效信息。但是千万不要一整句一整句记忆,也尽量避免整个单词记录,尤其是长单词。例如:
