What happened When it happened How important the cellphone / smartphone was And explain how you felt about the experience
Well, that happened when I was at the airport in Chengdu with my wife, a couple of months ago, we were catching a plane to Beijing. It was March when there was an Omicron surge, cases were being found everywhere. And you know how you were supposed to show your health code everywhere you went during the pandemic? Like, before you board a plane, the staff are going to check your covid test, and you have to be a negative? Well, I didn’t have one. The thing is me and my wife, we specifically did our covid tests at a hospital the day before our flight, her result showed negative, but mine just hadn’t come out yet by the time we arrived at the airport. Without a negative result, I was not allowed to even enter the airport. I first called the hospital and they said there was probably a delay in the system and told me to wait for about an hour, if the result still wouldn’t show, then call again. It didn’t. When I reached the hospital again, they were confused about the delay, but they gave me the phone number of the test agency that they sent the samples to. So after several attempts, I got in contact with the agency, they were nice, and said they could send a photocopy of my test on my phone if I needed it. Long story short, I was able to have my result at the last minute, and we successfully boarded the plane and crisis averted. Well, it was really a close call, we were so helpless outside the airport with our luggage. At one point, I even panicked because if we had not gotten on the plane, we could have been stuck in Chengdu for 14 days. Our problem was basically solved over my phone.

1. Do you think people are familiar with their neighbors?

示范音频? [audio mp3="https://www.testdaily.cn/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/getvoice-2.mp3"][/audio] I don’t think so. I mean, here in China, most people these days live in apartment buildings and an apartment building complex typically has 3/4 hundred households. All these people really live in close proximity but they don’t really socialize with each other. I mean, neighbors may occasionally say hi to each other in the elevator but that’s about it, no small talk, no conversation. And I think people consciously and subconsciously try to keep a distance from their neighbors. It’s understandable, I mean, you wouldn’t want people that you don’t consider your friends to know too much information about you, right? They’d better never find out the skeleton in your closet.

2. How can people improve the relationship with neighbors in a community?

示范音频? [audio mp3="https://www.testdaily.cn/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/getvoice-3.mp3"][/audio] Personally, I don’t find it necessary to make an effort to improve the relationship with my neighbors, I’m perfectly ok with me and my neighbors not knowing each other. However, I think there are things you can do that make you a better neighbor, like, never play your music too loud, make sure people living on the other side of wall don’t hear any noise coming from you. And keep any communal space you share with your neighbors clean, it is always appreciated; and certainly don’t ever pry into your neighbors’ privacy, like how much money they make or what cars they drive. Seriously, if you can do all of the above, your are practically the best neighbor anyone can ask for.

3. How do children build relationships with others in a community?

示范音频?: [audio mp3="https://www.testdaily.cn/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/getvoice-4.mp3"][/audio] It’s think it’s a lot easier for children in a community to make friends with each other than adults, all children want is someone they can play with. Where I live, I see kids riding bikes together, throwing Frisbees together or jumping in puddles together all the time, they really seem to have a blast. When children interact with each other, there’s not any inhibitions that you see in adults. I mean, children build relationships with others mainly through play, and friendships bloom in play.

4. Is it beneficial to get along well with neighbors?

示范音频? [audio mp3="https://www.testdaily.cn/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/getvoice-5.mp3"][/audio] I think it depends, if you live in a close-knit community, then there are benefits in knowing your neighbors well, like, it might be a small community where everybody knows everybody and if you don’t try to get to know your neighbors, you might be seen as the outsider by others. And when you can fit in, your neighbors are more likely to lend you a helping hand when you really need it. But for someone like me who moves home from time to time, I don’t feel it’s important to build a close relationship with my neighbors. First of all, I don’t think I want anything from them and vice versa. And my neighbors could be very different people whom I just don’t have anything in common with. I don’t think there’s a possibility for friendships. We are better off being strangers to each other.
