雅思口语Part 1

1.What’s your favourite animal? Why?

Dogs are known for their loyalty and companionship. They form strong bonds with their owners and are often referred to as “man’s best friend.” Also, dogs are highly emotionally intelligent. They can sense human emotions and respond appropriately, providing comfort and support. So I like dogs the best.

2.Where do you prefer to keep your pet, indoors or outdoors?

I prefer to keep pets indoors to protect them from outdoor hazards such as traffic, predators, and other animals that could pose a threat. Also, Indoor pets are less likely to contract diseases or parasites that are common in outdoor environments, some of which might be infectious and lead to diseases in human bodies.

3.Have you ever had a pet before?

I now have a cat by myside. Since they groom themselves and do not require regular walks like dogs, they are more suitable for people like me, with busy schedules and prefer a more independent pet. They are well content in just their small bed and will not deal damage to surrounding.

4.What is the most popular animal in China?

It’s got to be the giant and cute panda. Known for their docile and playful behavior, pandas are often seen as gentle giants. The giant panda is a national treasure and an emblem of peace and friendship in China. Its rarity and endangered status draw significant attention and concern, fostering a strong conservation effort.

雅思口语Part 2

1.Describe a historical period/moment you would like to learn more about

You should say:

What you are interested in
When it happened
What you know about it
And why you would like to learn more

I would like to know more about the time when the great scientist Galileo lived and that was about 16th and 17th century.

Galileo was a preeminent astronomist and physicist and even a renowned artist – He contributed greatly to the research into mechanics, namely, velocity, acceleration, gravity and inertia. He set up the theoretical foundation for the later Newton’s laws of motion.

Since he was a well-developed figure, I want to know more about the historic and social influence of earlier events, like Renaissance, on his generation. Sometimes, I sort of take everything for granted and lack motivation to move on. By knowing more about the social and economic background, viewing him as my model, I can know more about how he had developed into such a perfect person. And consequently, I myself might be motivated.

Also, he rebelled against the reign of pope and church, which prompts me to learn more about the development of Christianity and how it might suffocate the flourish of independence and scientific souls. And also, I want to learn from those rebellious artists and scientists, who, taking the risk of being executed for so-called heresy, courageously revealed the essence of the mechanism of the world.

雅思口语Part 3

1.Should everyone know history?

Yes indeed. For children, history provides a foundation for understanding the world, including how societies, cultures, and political systems have evolved, which would be highly beneficial in their later lives. Also, it encourages children to think critically about the past and present, helping them to analyze and interpret information. For adults, the meaning is more practical. Understanding historical context helps adults make informed decisions, as history often repeats itself in different forms. They avoid making judgements that are proved futile according to historical contexts.

2.In what ways can children learn history?

For most kids, Narrating historical events as stories can make them more relatable and interesting for children. This can be done through books, audio recordings, or even live storytelling sessions. Also, many parents take their kids to museums, especially those with child-friendly exhibits. They can offer hands-on experiences with historical artifacts and interactive displays. And also, school trips to historical sites, battlefields, or cultural festivals can provide immersive learning experiences. It works better when integrated with those serious introductions.

3.What are the differences between learning history from books and from videos?

Books often provide more in-depth information and detailed narratives, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of historical events. Reading encourages children to use their imagination to visualize scenes, characters, and settings, which can enhance engagement and memory retention. For example, when videos portray a spectacular scene of the battle of Chibi, it loses some subjective magnification on the readers’ part. However, videos indeed help those who with little background information more easily access the essence of history, like kids, who barely know how to interpret ancient Chinese.

4.Is it difficult to protect and preserve historic buildings?

One of the primary challenges in preserving historic buildings is the cost associated with maintenance and restoration. These structures often require specialized materials and skilled labor that can be expensive. For example, the restoration of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris after the 2019 fire required significant funds for the reconstruction of the spire and the vaulting. Also, to raise the public awareness remains another challenge, when people tend to prioritize themselves, rather than the country’s heritage. So when interests of people is harmed for the preservation, they might engage in protests.

5.Who should be responsible for protecting historic buildings?

Most importantly, government authorities are responsible for creating and enforcing laws and regulations that protect historic buildings. They may also provide funding for preservation efforts. For example, the central government may issue guidelines and policies for the protection of historic buildings. Also, the owners or occupants of historic buildings may also share in the responsibility for their protection. They are typically required to maintain the building in accordance with preservation standards and it is they that can best retain the original condition according to their actual experience of living in it.
